Tropical Storm Polo turns into category 5 monster hurricane off south-west coast of Mexico

Tropical Storm Polo rapidly intensified into a Category 5 hurricane off the south-west coast of Mexico, driven by strong El Niño weather patterns. The hurricane reached sustained winds of 165 mph and was located about 215 miles south of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico, but was unlikely to make a direct landfall.
