White House plans new visitor entrance under adjacent park

The White House has submitted plans to the National Capital Planning Commission to construct a 33,000-square-foot underground visitor screening facility beneath Sherman Park. The facility would serve as a security checkpoint for visitors entering the White House grounds for tours and events, accessible via a ramp at the southeast corner of 15th Street.
