Ex-captain admits drugging and raping US maritime cadet at sea
A former captain, John Merrone, pleaded guilty in a Brooklyn federal court to drugging and raping a 21-year-old US Merchant Marine Academy cadet during her Sea Year placement aboard the Liberty Glory. The plea was entered as his trial was about to start.
