Costa Rica’s Police Fleet Crisis Threatens Patrols Across the Country

Costa Rica faces a policing crisis as approximately 1,500 police vehicles are out of service, severely impacting patrol capabilities across the country. The Ministry of Public Security reported many of the remaining vehicles are also mechanically unreliable, complicating public security efforts.
