The Hospital de Amor de Barretos successfully conducted the first long-distance robotic tele-surgery through Brazil's public health system (SUS), performing a two-hour procedure treating an intestinal tumor on a patient located 2,600 kilometers away in Porto Velho, Rondônia. The surgery used a robotic system fully controlled by a surgeon from Barretos with real-time 3D visualization and high connectivity enabling precise remote movements.
