Spain rules out participating in military operations in Strait of Hormuz
Spain has ruled out participating in any military operations in the Strait of Hormuz, with its defence and foreign affairs ministers declaring the US-Israeli war on Iran illegal. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's leftist coalition government has also banned US aircraft from using jointly operated bases in southern Spain as part of its opposition to the offensive. The announcement signals a significant rift between Spain and its Western allies over the Iran conflict.
