A French retired physician, Chantal Etiennette Dechaume, 73, was murdered by her Brazilian boyfriend Altamiro Rocha in João Pessoa, Paraíba; her body was found burned inside a suitcase. The French consulate in Brazil has been contacted by police to locate her family for the repatriation process. The suspect was found dead—decapitated with his hands tied—a day after the murder, and a homeless man who set the suitcase on fire at the suspect's request has been identified but not yet located.
