Chennai Metro Rail starts work on tunnel to link Nungambakkam and Sterling Road

Chennai Metro Rail has commenced tunneling work to connect Nungambakkam and Sterling Road, drilling mainly under key roads and buildings. The tunnel is projected to be completed by next January.

Tunnelling starts near Khader Nawaz Khan Road. The machines will mostly drill under Uthamar Gandhi Road, Valluvar Kottam Road, and some buildings. Officials say the tunnel will be completed by next January
